Nurturing resilience through nature at Courteenhall
03 November 2025

Courteenhall is delighted to celebrate Alex Preston, Founder of New Leaf Learning, who has been named a Finalist for the 2025 Northamptonshire Education Awards in the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Champion category.
Based at our beautiful Courteenhall Estate in South Northamptonshire—with its woodlands, open fields, and peaceful outdoor spaces—New Leaf Learning provides the ideal environment for nature-based programmes that help children manage anxiety, overcome school avoidance, and reconnect with learning. Its central location enables close partnership with primary schools across Northamptonshire and beyond, offering children, parents, and staff a calm, natural setting to reflect, rebuild confidence, and grow.
The charity is guided by Johnny Wake, Chair of Trustees and Managing Partner at Courteenhall Farms, whose background as a GP, former Department of Health Advisor, regenerative farming leader, and Deputy Lieutenant of Northamptonshire brings a powerful blend of health, sustainability, and community expertise.
Together, Alex, Johnny and the New Leaf Learning team are driving meaningful change so more children can thrive with confidence, wellbeing, and opportunity.
