Pink Ladies’ Tractor Road Run celebrates its 20th anniversary with record number of entrants

3rd Jul 2023

Our sister site, Gawdy Hall Estate in Norfolk, helped the Pink Ladies Tractor Road Run to celebrate its 20th anniversary at the weekend - as they smashed their fundraising target.

A record number of women took part in the event which raises money for breast cancer. The event has now raised over £1 million for Cancer Research UK.

Created by organiser Annie Chapman, over a hundred decorated tractors wound their way through 20 miles of countryside yesterday. They arrived at Gawdy Hall, where they were joined in the parkland with 600 spectators for a picnic.

Annie, 81, a retired riding instructor, said: “It’s such a privilege to bring our event into the beautifully kept grounds of Gawdy Hall. We stop, line up the decorated tractors for everyone to look at and tuck into picnics in the meadow. It’s just lovely.

“I’d like to thank the team at Gawdy Hall for their kindness and cooperation and everything they did to help us with this year’s anniversary event, including providing an alternative entrance into the Estate. I’ve never seen so many cars!

“This year we reached our £1 million fundraising target, which I'm absolutely delighted by. It's a stunning achievement."

Gawdy Hall’s Land Agent Mark Mayhew said: “We were delighted to welcome Annie Chapman and 196 other ladies on the 20th anniversary of the Pink Ladies Tractor Road Run.

“Over 600 people joined the participants at the halfway stop in the Gawdy Hall parkland for a picnic lunch and were able to walk amongst the impressively decorated vintage and modern tractors which took part this year.

“The run carried on along Estate tracks and through the Estate before returning to Thorpe Abbots airfield. It was a brilliant day and all for a very deserving cause.”
